  • The mirror was originally made of shiny pieces or sheets of metal, usually silver or copper metal when the re-imaged shadow is to be seen but also from other metals when used only for focusing light. Most modern mirrors consist of a thin layer of aluminum overlaid with a piece of glass. This mirror is called "back silvered", in which the surface reflects through the glass. Mirror coating with glass makes the mirror resistant, but reduces the quality of the mirror because of the additional front surface biasan glass. Such a mirror reverses about 80% of the light coming. The "back" mirror is often painted completely black to protect the metal from erosion. Telescopes and other optical equipment use a "front silvered" mirror, where the reflective surface is placed on the glass surface, which provides better shadow quality, sometimes silver is used, but most of these mirrors use aluminum, which reflects shorter waves better of silver. The front mirror reflects 90% to 95% of the light coming. Because the metal is corroded in the presence of oxygen and moisture, the front-of-the-art mirror needs to be replaced by its surface repeatedly to maintain its quality. Another way is, of course, using a vacuum to put this mirror.
